I started this blog in an attempt to start formalising a lot of my ideas and opinions, and develop a stronger focus in my life. I have many wide-ranging interests, but am now learning that they may be all more closely connected than I ever imagined, and my goal now now is to see what I can turn them all into.
I currently live on the Sunshine Coast of Australia, with my younger son, and my aging cat. I am at university full-time, pursuing a degree in nutrition and dietetics (with a side of exercise science). I am also a qualified personal trainer.
I love to cook, especially baking. I am currently on a mission to eliminate most, if not all, processed foods from my kitchen, and only eat what I have made myself. I already bake my own bread, but further goals for 2011, include making my own yoghurt and cheese. However, I am not an extremist, by any means. If the world did not include red wine and dark chocolate, then it would not be a happy place.
I also love to sew, although at present, that has been pushed to the side as university has eliminated most of my free time. I also grow some of my own food, although renting places limitations on that. But I always have at least herbs and a few salad vegetables.
My driving passion at present is the importance of food, and the part it plays in our lives (aside from the obvious, as fuel for energy). I want to learn all I can- from how specific foods function and affect our bodies; to how it is produced and processed; the psychological/cultural relationship we have with food; and how it impacts on the rest of our life.
looking forward to enjoying your posts!

sorry to be so brief, but it’s 1:30 am here… cheers!
I enjoyed reading some of your posts. I found your site through the Post A Day page. I just signed up for that as well. I, too, am trying to live a healthier life and am working towards eating healthier and becoming more fit. I appreciate what you’re writing about and will check back often. It’s nice to know there are others out there working to live healthier too.
